I must get my dislike of winter from my mother. Born and raised in California, she is one of those people that craves the warmth and sunshine and as soon as the temperatures start to drop, she’s ready to pack up and head south. And, in fact, that is what she does.
Ready to leave the snow and ice behind, Big Sister E and I packed up and headed down to visit for a week. However, the thought of traveling with a 3-year-old was a little daunting, so I knew it was important to prepare and plan to make the trip as smooth and simple as possible for us both.
When deciding what bags to carry on, I knew they would have to meet a few requirements: plenty of room, well-organized and easy to carry. Fortunately for me, all of that is found in one uniquely-designed bag created by an innovative mom, Mrs. Rachael Smith.
Looks like any other diaper bag on the outside, doesn’t it? Appearances can be deceiving!
When Rachael couldn’t find a diaper bag on the market that met her organizational needs, she did the next best thing and invented her own. Today, all of Mrs. Smith’s Bags feature the genius ideas that she came up with, including a two tiered design, patented pull-out drawer, washable changing pad and strap that converts from being a shoulder bag into a backpack.
Every single one of the features that make a Diaper Bag from Mrs. Smith’s Bags distinct combine to make this the ultimate organizational bag for traveling. As I began packing for our plane ride, I immediately fell in love with the way every item had a designated place and would be easy to access when it was needed while we were up in the sky.
Extra clothes, wipes, drinks (in the insulated bottle/cup holders) crafts, crayons and small toys dominated the large top portion of our bag, while the bottom pull-out drawer was perfect for having a multitude of snacks and munchies divided into tidy compartments. Not only was it easy to see what I had already put in, in one glance I could see what was missing. Even better, with the amazing size of this Diaper Bag, there seemed to be an endless supply of room to add in more things.
After checking our bags at the airport, it was up to me to keep track of the carry-on suitcase, our Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag, our jackets and hold Big Sister E’s hand all at the same time. I really appreciated having the option to easily move the carrying strap on the Diaper Bag on from the shoulder position to the backpack option if I chose to have even more hands free. Versatility at its finest!
So, how did our Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag hold up on the airplane? It was perfect. Even filled to the brim it fit right under the seat in front of us and I was able to reach right into the top or, for an easy way to have snacks on hand, I left the drawer pulled out far enough that the food was accessible (shown below). I couldn’t have asked for a better way to keep both Big Sister and myself happy while flying.
The Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag is the definition of the saying, “A place for everything and everything in its place.” Whether you are going on a daily outing or a long trip and need to carry items for any number of children at any ages, every detail has been carefully thought-out to maximize space and organization and minimize the possibility of ever having to dig through a messy diaper bag again. With its variety of colors and patterns, this stylish bag and its benefits are unparalleled by all others.
Ready to move into a world where dumping out your bag in hopes of finding the particular toy or snack is a distant memory? Thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Smith’s Bags and Whoda Thought (their parent company), one person will have the chance to carry one of these amazing bags, because…
One lucky person will win a Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag of their own!
Over at Grandparents.com I moderate the New Grandparents group which is growing all the time. There actually are a lot of grandparents-to-be who come and join to share their joy and concerns and sometimes they ask about what are good gifts for them to give to their daughters and daughters-in-law. Although all of us first time grandmothers can’t wait to buy “cute” stuff we really have a responsibility to help “Keep it Real.” This means helping avoiding waste and poor purchases that have to be duplicated with something better latter. Recently I wrote about my frustration with car seats. But today I have a great product to recommend without reservation.
Another complicated purchase is a diaper bag – yes, grandparents – a diaper bag. I remember always digging in the bottom for something that I absolutely needed and periodically not having it and every so often taking everything out of the bag and starting over. I shopped with my daughter for her diaper bag and much like the car seat not much has changed in the last 30 years – except that now they have some ridiculously expensive “boutique” bags.
We’ll guess what – I have just recently learned about Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bags and it is indeed a big improvement. This bag has some unique features including a drawer at the bottom of the bag – that’s right a drawer – and it is easily changed from being used as a messenger bag into a backpack. The bag is roomy, yet lightweight. But what I liked most is its organization and ability to find things that are most often lost in the bottom somewhere. There is, of course, the convenient changing pad, but there are also three insulated pockets for bottles, sippy cups or baby food. On the outside there are two pockets good for bottles, pacifiers, toys, etc and a big pocket to slide thin things into.
But the really big deal about this bag has got to be the drawer. At the bottom of the bag is a pull out drawer – that comes all the way out – and is a generous 3 1/2 inches deep. It has three compartments so it can easily be used for three different things.
The other reviewing bloggers and people leaving comments on Mrs. Smith’s website and Amazon.com all talk about the drawer. Mrs. Smith’s website has the story of how the drawer idea emerged. It is the story of Rachel Smith being in an airport with a delayed plane and a toddler and baby. In searching for her son’s toy train she spilled her baby’s bottle and wound up with a wet and messy diaper bag. The insulated pockets and drawer idea came to her later when she was settled in on the plane.
Everyone has their own idea of what the drawer is best used for. Although it looks like the perfect place for baby food and pacifiers to me, one commenter whose baby was in day care said it was the perfect place to put her baby’s clothes. I can see using one compartment for socks and others for tops and bottoms. You could just replenish each day what was used. I didn’t have to deal with bringing a baby to day care but many parents do today. Parents who bring their children to day care will love this bag because they can easily see what they have packed and will never forget something important. Diaper bags get used for longer than you think and I suspect that how the drawers are used will be different for a toddler than for a baby.
If you are a walking or hiking family – or one who takes little ones on airplanes – I think you’ll love the conversion to backpack feature of this bag. And it is super easy to do. Men love that one of the color design options is black. Actually, black is one of the best sellers and the color I chose for my sample.
For full disclosure, Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bags did provide me with a sample bag for review which I am able to keep. Thank you Mrs. Smith very much. I have not received compensation for this review and I do not have a personal relationship with this company. Any product review I do on this blog is an honest evaluation of my personal opinion. I do not review products favorably for compensation.

When I first went shopping for a diaper bag, before we even knew Princess P was a girl, I was all about the style of the bag. At that time I was childless and had no idea that I should be shopping for the function of the bag rather than the look. Almost two years later and I am regretting the decision of purchasing the bag that fit the look of my lifestyle before baby. With the help of a certain diaper bag, I now know what it feels like to have function and style! After many mornings of scrambling to get out the door, Mrs. Rachael Smith realized that she spent too much time worrying about the little details and not enough time focused on the essentials. It all came to a head one day when she tried to juggle the demands of her infant daughter and toddler son at the airport. While digging through her traditional diaper bag to find her sons beloved toy, Rachael accidentally spilled her daughters bottle all over the bags contents. Finally, in desperation to find his train, she emptied the entire bag into a chair. After locating the toy, she shoved everything back into the bag and hurried to board the plane. Once seated, Rachael looked at the disorganized and dripping wet bag and thought “I can do better than this!” Minutes later, she began sketching the ultimate diaper bag. Now, two years later, she proudly introduces the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag. Mrs. Smith’s generously sent me the Pearl Diaper Bag to review. When I opened the bag up I could not believe my eyes. Is this what I had been missing all of these years? (Well, more like 1 year and 8 months.) The top part of the diaper bag is ideal for storing clothing, bottles and sippy cups, first-aid kits, diapers, rash cream and wipes. Also located in the top of the bag, in the bag’s flap, is a washable, full-sized changing pad. But it has to be what is in the bottom of the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag that makes it so special and unique. Located in the bottom zippered compartment is a fully removable drawer for complete organization. The drawer has three-separate compartments that are perfect for formula, baby food jars, snacks, toys or anything else you might want. Another great feature of the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag is that is it easily converts from a shoulder bag to a backpack in a few simple steps. This is perfect for hectic airports, shopping malls and park trips when you need hands-free use. Things that fit perfect in the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag:
Two bottles and one sippy cup in their own insulated holders
Jars of baby food
Two pacifiers
Lots of snacks and toys
Four to five sets of clothing
Wipes in a their own wipes container
Six diapers
A washable, full-sized changing
pad (is included!)
And dedicated places for your keys, cell phone, sunglasses, credit cards, cash, ID
and water bottles
Overall, I think that this bag can hold a lot of stuff in an organized way. I found that the top is perfect for storing Princess P’s change of clothes, diapers, wipes and first-aid kit. While the bottom of the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag has been deemed the “Snack & Clean-up” drawer. It usually contains snacks, juice boxes, wet towelettes, bibs and hand sanitizer. The outside pockets are great for holding P’s sippy cup and my cell phone and keys. The back part of the bag is great for storing books, small toys and in our case, the mail. I do have to admit that this diaper bag is a bit bigger than our old one and would be perfect for moms of infants and moms with more than one child.
I’m one of those moms that packs a diaper bag like I’m never coming home again. With 3 kids, I just want to be prepared for anything. This usually results in my diaper bag being utterly disorganized and overflowing with diapers, wipes, clothes, blankets, etc. You get the picture, right?
I have recently had the luxury of testing out a Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag. It is the ultimate diaper bag and I would go as far as to say that it puts an average diaper bag to shame! There are several designs available for purchase. I chose the Pink Polka Dot Bag for review. Could it be any cuter?
The Mrs. Smith’s bag has room for everything and it’s organized! Seriously, this bag is amazing! The secret is that the bag is sectioned off into two main areas. What I mean by that is that there is a top section for your diapers, wipes, clothes, bottles, binkies, etc. and a bottom section that is actually an insulated drawer.
The drawer is great for snacks or toys, just about anything you’d like to use it for. But wait, there’s more! My favorite feature, the thing that makes it so unique and special to me is the strap. You can use it as is with the standard shoulder strap, or with a couple of quick changes you can turn it into a backpack. This is a real lifesaver for me when I’m trying to manage all of my kids on an outing.
Other cool features of the bag are the washable, full size changing pad that tucks into the bags flap, the key hook, the sunglass holder, the cell phone pocket, need I go on? Everything is right there and easy to get to. I can’t say enough good things about it. Do you want one of your own now?
I have been looking for the perfect diaper bag. I’ve own quite a few, actually I owned many, from different styles, colors, and sizes. I love my Skip and Hop diaper bag, but after having two kids it is just not big enough. I needed a bag that is big enough to carry the things I need for a 3 month old and 2 years old.
That is why I was so happy when I won a Mrs. Smith Diaper Bag by Whoda Thought. I have seen the reviews from other blogs and I knew this is what I have been looking for. This bag is now my favorite diaper bag. I picked the pink polka dots color and it is beautiful. It actually looks better in person than from the pictures in their site.
I took this bag out for the first time to the mall. You could not believe how much stuff I was able to put in this bag
2 Born Free Bottles
(2) 8oz ready to feed similac bottle
receiving blanket(I use it for burping)
burp cloth
bib
onesies
bodysuit
Baby Phat Wrap (which by the way not very thin)
wipes
6 diapers (two size 5 and four size 2)
juice box
snacks
pacifiers
my wallet
SLR Canon (my huge camera!)
And after all those stuff I still had plenty of space! I did not even put anything in the outside pockets and had plenty more space in the bottom! I know any huge diaper bag can store all the things I mentioned. But that is not why I love this bag. This bag does not look huge at all. It doesn’t make you feel like you are carrying a suitcase. It is very well designed with plenty of storage.
Two side pockets and 2 side bottle holder
Three insulated bottle and sippy cup holders.
Bottom storage. It reminds me of a drawer. This is great for little things you can put such as pacifiers and toys.
Full Size washable changing pad (HUGE!! LOVE IT!)
Three additional pockets (2 inside and 1 in the back)
My favorite is the bottom storage. I no longer dig inside when my daughter ask for her toys or snacks. My diaper bag has never been this organize until now. You can also convert this bag to a backpack very easily. However, I prefer carrying it as a messenger bag. It comes in six different colors. My other favorite is the copper color!
I was not paid or sent an item. I personally won the item above from a giveaway blog.
Before I tell you about Mrs. Smith’s Bags , I have a story to tell you. A couple of years ago, I was traveling to Taiwan with DD (all by myself)– I know, I was totally crazy to be traveling with a year old on a 13 hour flight. I am one of those people who over prepares for everything, so I thought I would be ok with this flight. I packed 4 outfits, over a dozen diapers and I even packed toys for DD to play with on the flight. Yes, I packed all of these things in my backpack. After we checked it, I soon realized that there was a problem. Apparently, there was a computer malfunction, and so no planes could take off until they repaired the issue. The entire LAX was shut down for 7 hours. DD and I sat in LAX for 7 hours until we were allowed onto to the plane for our 13 hour trip to Taiwan. Well, as you probably already guessed it, I did not pack enough. Even though I stuffed everything I could in my backpack, it still was not enough. On top of that, when I wanted to pull something out, I had to dump everything out to find it. Yeah, it was not a good trip for me or the people who were on the same plane with me.
This is where Mrs. Smith’s diaper bag comes in. Seriously, this is what I needed 2 years ago! First of all, look at how cute this bag is. You know I have a weakness for anything cute and girly.
I LOVE, LOVE the backpack style. I need my hands free to handle DD.
Look at how much stuff you can put in the diaper bag.
Ok, I want to warn you that if you are one of those moms who carries 1 diaper, 1 bottle and a small package of baby wipes, this is not the bag for you. However, if you are a mom like me, then you will love this. I am prepared for anything and everything that life throws at me. I think Mrs Smith diaper bag is great because I love that I don’t get all stressed out because I ran out of milk, diapers, baby wipes or change of clothes. When DD was younger, I regularly carried 2 slippy cups of fresh milk for her, and when I was potty training DD, I always carried extra clothes with me (just in case). This is the diaper bag that will hold everything. How awesome is that!
So you might think is this bag only good for moms with infants? Not so, I think that it is a great size for moms with multiple kids (a toddler and an infant, or two infants). When you no longer need to carry so much stuff with you on outings with your kids, then you can use this as carry on bags when you travel. Yes, you can continue using this bag even when your kids are older!

How to convert the messenger bag into a backpack? Simply unhook the messenger strap and remove the shoulder pad. Thread the strap through the loop behind documents pouch. Attach hooks to the D-clips at the bottom of the back of the bag and size accordingly.
How to organize the top? We recommend that you place clothing, bottles, sippy cups pacifiers, band-aids, diaper and diaper cream in the top portion. When zipping the bag be sure to line-up the zipper, place one hand on the zipper tab, and the other on the documents pouch for support.
Where is the changing pad? The full size washable changing pad is located in the bag’s flap. After use carefully fold and replace it in its pouch.
Review
Oh that bag needs to be organized with lots of stuffs! Read how you can organized it with them. Should every moms need to dig deep into the bag to look for keys or any small items. Angry or Frustrated when your kids cry? What is all things about?
Mrs.Smith’s Diaper Bag is the great bag to organize what your child needs and easy for moms to search each and every items that your child needs without being search disappear items and hassle free. It can also convert it to a backpack by using its own shoulder strap. This bag is unique as it has pull-out drawer, which can be taken completely out of the bag. You can use anything you want in the drawer. Great way to use for snacks and toys. Other items such as burp cloths, formula or baby food jars are easily identified in this bag.
I am thrilled to receive a Mrs.Smith Diaper bag for review in the ultra mod brown with flower pattern. This bag has become my most organized diaper bag to use it often whenever we go out. I feel so comfortable with it and pick up the items that kids need it urgently. Thanks to Rachel Smith for cleverly making this unique bag for frustrated mothers to carry it with kids to move from one place to another. I am very sure most of the busy moms throw their own diaper bags and grab this unique bag when they come to know more about it.
The top compartment is perfect for clothing, two bottles and one sippy cup in their own insulated holders, two pacifiers and jars of baby food. There is also a small little zipper pouch inside to use it for changing pad. You can close a larger pocket with Velcro in the top section. It’s very great idea to close it urgently with Velcro. In the bottom section you can see a little drawer when you unzipped. A great way to store anything you need it urgently like snacks, diaper, cream, medicines etc. For washing, it can be easily taken out and put back. You can also put passport or any important notes in the back of this bag. 2 small pouch can be seen outside the bag for your keys, cell phone, sunglasses, credit cards, cash, ID and water bottle or any small items.
Another great feature is that people can’t recognize that it’s just the diaper bag and so you can use it any other items, you want for travel. Smart way to travel with this bag not just the diaper bag!
My friends all know, I am a bag-a-holic! I am the one with the new handbag every time you see me. Being pregnant and soon to have a new baby you can bet I will be toting around a few of the hottest and chicest bags there are out there.
I received several diaper bags and to be honest, the Mrs. Smith bag is my most practical bag. I am on the go-literally I spend most of the weekend out of the house with the kids and in the summer we are rarely home. This little girl I’m carrying is going to have a lot to keep up with but also, I have a lot to lug around!
The benefits of the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag are unmatched, like the unique pull-out drawer, which can be taken completely out of the bag. In the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag, you can fit all of this:
-Two bottles and one sippy cup in their own insulated holders
-Jars of baby food
-Two pacifiers
-Lots of snacks and toys
-Four to five sets of clothing
-Wipes in a their own wipes container
-Six diapers
-A washable, full-sized changing
pad (is included!)
and dedicated places for your keys, cell phone, sunglasses, credit cards, cash, ID
and water bottle. Furthermore, you can access all of these items easily!
The Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag converts to a backpack by using its own shoulder strap. It’s designed with style and flare, and keeps you organized. The Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag also comes in black for those who also love to be organized, but don’t do pink!
The story of how this fabulous bag came to be is awesome–I love parent invented products because we ROCK! We truly know best! Mrs. Rachael Smith after many mornings scrambling out the door with her children, realized she spent too much time worrying about the little details (keys, change of clothes, snacks, etc…) and not enough time focused on the essentials.
One day while struggling to juggle the demands of her infant daughter and toddler son at the airport, this all came to a head. While digging through her traditional diaper bag, Rachael accidentally spilled her daughter’s bottle all over the bag’s contents. I know you all want to know what bag I got–well, here it is!
Yes, it’s metallic and yes, it is brown embossed leopard print…totally me. I will post pictures of me with the bag once I get to take it out on the town.
A great diaper bag is a must when you have small children. You need to be able to fit all of the necessities in it, but it also has to be organized so that everything can be found quickly. Mrs Smith’s Diaper Bags are large enough for all of your needs and provide several places to keep it all organized. The diaper bags were created when owner, Rachael Smith, struggled to dig through her diaper bag in hopes to find her son’s toy and her daughter’s bottle in an airport one day. In frustration, she ended up having to dump the whole bag out. She decided to design the “perfect diaper bag” while on the plane that day.
Not only is it absolutely adorable, but the design ensures that everything that you pack is available without having to search. A full sized, washable changing pad is included with the diaper bag as well as a pull out tray for snacks or toys. The diaper bag can even be converted into a back pack. Simply unhook the messenger strap and remove the shoulder pad. Thread the strap through the loop behind documents pouch. Attach hooks to the D-clips at the bottom of the back of the bag and size accordingly.
How to organize the bag is up to you. There are plenty of pockets up top and on the sides so that you can arrange items in a way that makes the most sense. They recommend that you place clothing, bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers, band-aids, diapers and diaper cream in the top portion. After a little trial and error, that is mostly what I keep in the top of my diaper bag. I also keep my wallet, a camera, an extra burp cloth, and bib up there for easy access. I put my cell phone, keys, water bottle, and sippy cups in the pockets that are around the outside of the bag.
The bottom zips open to reveal a pull out drawer with dividers. Isabella is just starting to eat baby food, so soon I will be storing jars and spoons in there as well. Right now I keep extra bows, shoes, diaper rash ointment, infant Tylenol, and a few toys in the drawer because I often forget to grab them before I leave home.
I emptied out everything in the diaper bag so that you could see how much it holds. It’s hard to tell, but the toys are sitting on diapers, the container with baby cereal is sitting on top of my wallet and checkbook. A pair of Evan’s jeans are also underneath Isabella’s clothes in this picture.
Here it is all back in the bag and I even have extra room for more things. You can also see the changing pad that is rolled up at the top of the bag that I forgot to put in the picture above.

It is no secret that I am an on-the-go Mama. I am constantly running out the door only to have forgotten to restock Dexter’s diaper bag! Grrrr…. I think I may have found the PERFECT solution to this problem, Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bags!
I was lucky enough to review their Copper Diaper Bag and let me tell you how pretty she is! Wow, what a stunner!
Before I tell you what I love most about the bag, let me tell you what Mrs. Smith says about the bag herself:
The benefits of the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag are unmatched, like the unique pull-out drawer, which can be taken completely out of the bag. In the Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag, you can fit:
Two bottles and one sippy cup in their own insulated holders
Jars of baby food
Two pacifiers
Lots of snacks and toys
Four to five sets of clothing
Wipes in a their own wipes container
Six diapers
A washable, full-sized changing
pad (is included!)
And dedicated places for your keys, cell phone, sunglasses, credit cards, cash, ID
and water bottle
And you can access all of these items easily! The Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag converts to a backpack by using its own shoulder strap. It’s designed with style and flare, and keeps you organized. The Mrs. Smith’s Diaper Bag also comes in black for those who also love to be organized, but don’t do pink!
When the bag first arrived I loved how shiny and chic it looked. It is quite large in size so it wouldn’t necessarily be the perfect bag for the quick trip to the store but if you have more than one baby it is a MUST! That is the only drawback that I found to this bag.
What else do I love about it? When you first open it up there is a large open space (for extra clothes, diapers etc) that is surrounded by fitted pockets that easily accommodate baby bottles and sippy cups alike. This means that once you open it, there is no fishing around with one hand to find what you need most–the bottle! Underneath the flap of the top is where the changing pad is kept. It reminds me of a rolled up little yoga mat–too cute!
Something unique…..the bottom of the bag has a pull out drawer!! Talk about organized. It holds my EcoStore USA Nappy Balm, Wipes, Teething Tablets, fruit snacks and practically anything else I would like to shove in there! I like that it sits upright so that I don’t have to lay on top of Dexter to wrangle him while searching in the bag! Its lovely. There are also nice, convenient side pockets for sunglasses and your cell phone. The only thing that this bag didn’t do for me was babysit!!
